This coffee is grown at a high altitude and is truly delightful. If you are able to buy Jamaican coffee really cheaply chances are it is not Jamaican Blue Mountain, or if it is, it is likely a blend of different coffees in addition.

Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee is grown in the Eastern part of the island, when you find Jamaica High Mountain coffee you shouldn’t be fooled, this is not the same. JHM coffee is Jamaican coffee that has been grown outside the true region. There are two farms that you can rely on when you are looking for this type of coffee and they are Wallenford and Mavis Bank, though you may see Old Tavern from time to time. Moy Hall is another trusted source, as it is a co-op that was created from one of the older farms in the region.

When you roast Jamaican coffee you should be aware that you will need to alter your roasting technique. This coffee has a lower bean density, and because of this you should lower the temperature during the warm up stage of the roasting process. If you cannot control the temperature in your roaster you will simply want to watch carefully, as you may need to roast for a much shorter period of time.

Jamaican coffee is something that people either really like or really dislike. If you have tried the coffee in the past and have not been impressed you may want to try it again. Because there are many different mills, the flavor of the coffee can really vary. If you know that you tried one type of the coffee and you didn’t like it, why not try another?
